Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real {October 1, 2015}

I'm linking up with Like Mother Like Daughter today. I've gotten behind on blogging so I thought this would be an easy way to get pictures posted on the blog since they are piling up. Plus, I haven't linked up with {phfr} in a long time.

 Pictures from our vacation to Pensacola Beach Florida. Plus some miscellaneous pictures.

Fort Pickins

Tyler before he lost both his sunglasses and goggles in the ocean.

Perhaps if the US military didn't encourage people not to read about history we would have avoided many repeat problems we have today. This poster was at the aviation museum in Pensacola Florida.

First time we have ever seen a ground hog in the yard. Lucy barked at it and scared it into the neighbor's tree.

Tyler is halfway through cross country season. This was from his first meet at Cole County Park.

We had a caterpillar turn to butterfly right at the front door. There was also one on the dead flower by the door.

Hay bale jumping at the family farm. Tyler with Lucy here.

More hay bale jumping with Caleb this time

Pretty Happy Funny Real {February 12, 2015}

It's been a while but I'm linking up!

Every Thursday, at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

{pretty, happy, funny, real}

Last Saturday at the family farm.
The temperature hit almost 70! We spent the afternoon playing at the farm. Short sleeves too!

Lucy has learned to sit still while driving. She isn't a fan of driving though and doesn't pick to get in the vehicle on her own.

Walking around the lake is always an adventure. Never know what you will find. We found a dead deer (picture will be below, not graphic) and some ice (even though it was very warm for February).

The sun shimmering off the lake!

I'm a big fan of tall grasses. I know the picture isn't exciting but they are a favorite for me. I love the colors.

I know! Who puts a picture of dead deer on their blog? Well, it was a nature study discovery and isn't gross looking.  ; ) This deer was very camouflaged laying in the tall grass next to the lake (Scott walked right past it but Tyler noticed it).

Someone has been letting Lucy sit in the recliner with them and now she expects to sit in it. Even though the pictures show Tyler, it was Caleb who is the guilty party! Tyler had no choice in the matter as Lucy was determined to join him!

Spoiled! Of course, she will out grown this very soon. I hope she realizes that!

  Scott gave me a new camera for Christmas (we don't normally exchange gifts but I talked him into it)!  I have yet to read the manual and figure it out. Just been using the auto mode. It has a 42X optical zoom on it though. I think it's pretty amazing! It was affordable too. First picture is taken of the boys who are across the lake (about the middle-yellow dot is Tyler). I zoomed in on the second picture so you could actually see them. And it's clear!

Pretty Happy Funny Real {October 30, 2014}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday, over at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

Today's Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real comes from our trip to the farm last Friday. The boys were wanting to pick up the last of the walnuts and I wanted to walk that trail that has been calling my name. Besides walnuts, Caleb picked up Poison Ivy and somehow got it all over his face.

Locked out! We got to the family farm and realized we forgot the key. We drove the truck, to collect walnuts, and the key was in the car. Thankfully we are less than fifteen minutes away and the drive was beautiful with all the colors of autumn.

The boys climbed the gate and decided to play in the creek and woods while I drove back. Tyler found this interesting rock that had to come home with us. I didn't get a good picture of the rock but it was really interesting.

 On the quick walk on the trail I've been wanting to visit, we found many treats along the walk. Coral Berry was everywhere! The fruit color was magnificent.

This small Oak tree was loaded with acorns. They were small but in prolific bunches.

We came along this Dogwood tree and were amazed by the leave and seed color.

All the Golden Rod had turned to seed which was a fluffy site.

My dad's deer stand is on this trail and Tyler wanted his picture taken in it. It should be noted that this was the only picture he wanted to take that day.

Just a little love shared among brothers. I just wanted some pictures in front of my favorite tree.

Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real {September 11, 2014}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday, at Like Mother, Like Daughter!

I've not been able to do much with the blog lately. Scouts, school, cross country, church fall festival duties, and just the normal stuff has been filling my time. Maybe I'll get around to some posts soon??

Here is what has been going on around here the past week in a random {pretty, happy, funny, real}.

Remember this project (take #7)? It is done and it was taken out for a test drive last Saturday. One of the new tires isn't holding air, so that needs to be fixed and a helmet needs to be bought. Saturday's test drive was slow and a straight line!

While at the family farm we did a little fishing. I actually had to put a jackets on in the evening.

Boys trying to find crickets to fish with.

Not much movement out there!

I finally caught a Bluegill. Tyler caught several though!

On Monday we headed back out to the farm for some nature study. Just a short hike and finished up our Morning Basket reading too. Tons of grasshoppers and many frogs were found. Also, a spider was found and I admired the White snakeroot that we found along the trail to the lake. My Missouri Wildflowers by Edgar Denison (fifth edition) says this flower killed Abraham Lincoln's mother! "This plant is the cause of 'milk-sickness'; it is poisonous to cattle and killed many early settlers who drank poisoned milk . . . "

Tuesday was the first cross country meet. Caleb had a tough race (maybe we didn't feed him enough that day, nerves, or maybe the rain) but still finished 13 out of 154 and Tyler surprised us with 84th (I missed him coming through the finish line because I didn't expect him so early). (I blurred out the faces at the starting line since I didn't ask permission from the parents to post a picture of their kids on my blog.)

It rained off and on the whole time there and the boys got rained on while running which was tough for Caleb since he wears glasses. There were several rainbows during the meet!

They aren't wet from sweat but from the rain. They are looking forward to their next race.

The funny for the week are the pictures I found on the camera of the cat while taking the above pictures off. I think Tyler took them.

"No, you are mistaken if you thought that was me in the shower!"

How was your week?

Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real {August 29, 2014}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life ~
Every Thursday, here at Like Mother Like Daughter

{Pretty}

I shared this photo in my Mid-August Nature Study post. This is my new favorite nature picture. I love the water and all the different plants and the vivid color in the picture.

{ Happy }

Today was mostly a good day of school. Students seemed pretty happy too.

I have "geography games" down to do on Fridays and it has been unplanned. Yet the boys always pick areas that they need to work on or worked on during map work earlier in the week. That makes a teacher mom happy!

{Funny}

Caleb walked into his bedroom after lunch and found a cat ball. We couldn't stop giggling and took a few pictures and the cat slept through it all.

I also found some random pictures on my camera again. I told the boys to be careful doing that or they may see them on the blog. I don't know what is up with the bed picture or who is under the cover.

{Real}

One school distraction that is allowed is a weather stop. We love to go outside and watch a weather front pass through. It's more than staring at the radar. This one was from this afternoon.
